The New Zealand – China Water Research Centre is one of three Centres funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation Employment (MBIE). It is hosted by Lincoln University, in partnership with AgResearch, Landcare Research, Plant and Food Research, Lincoln Agritech, and The University of Otago.
Objectives of the New Zealand – China Water Research Centre
- To coordinate collaborations between New Zealand and Chinese scientists from multiple organisations to mitigate water contamination, safeguard water quality, increase water use efficiency, mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, and combat climate change.
- To develop enduring partnerships between New Zealand and Chinese scientists on water, greenhouse gases and climate change research.
- To create new knowledge and novel solutions on water quality and climate change issues
- To increase cultural understanding, enhance Māori engagement with China, and promote New Zealand as a centre of excellence in research and development in water and greenhouse gases for high quality food production
